Walt’s Bar in Eagle Rock is a neostalgic respite from busy LA that combines a classic retro neighborhood bar with vintage pinball machines and a legendary hotdog that you can pair with a glass of fine wine.
Located on the edge of a residential neighborhood not far from Occidental College, this popular spot draws in locals, students, and visitors alike. Walt’s features a well-curated selection of craft beers and wine, and a menu of innovative takes on comfort food favorites, set among a long wall of tournament-quality pinball machines and walls covered with memorabilia and taxidermic kitsch.
But we were there for the famous hot dog. Warmed to perfection by a light bulb on a rotisserie, it was simply covered with a tangy blend of ketchup and brown mustard, served on a simple tinfoil-lined paper tray. Each bite more juicy and delicious than the last. It was no Pink’s Hot Dogs, but it held its own as a destination-dog.
